I have fond memories as a child of listening, non-stop, to the oldies on my parents radio. Growing up, you’d often find me at ‘Skate City’ wishing I was the DJ playing those great tunes, or in my room, listening to my CD's and trying to make the best mixes. While serving in the Air Force, I was introduced to country music, and while I still love that genre, I really have a love for all music – Oldies, Country, 80’s, Top 40, Rock, R&B, and Hip-Hop.
In 1998, I went to Country Jam for the first time – a huge, annual, 4-day, country music festival, in Grand Junction, CO. After the sun went down and the concerts were still fresh in our memories, I got out my cd case and my small stereo and I became the designated DJ for our small campsite group. It stuck with me and each year I returned with bigger and better equipment, with our growing group happily accommodating me by eventually paying me for my efforts, adding a huge circus-style tent, and a giant, lighted dance floor. Each night my identity changed to “DJ Jimmy Jam,” with my music attracting hundreds of other fellow Country Jam campers – an awesome feeling and a site to be seen! Now those were some parties!
My role as “DJ Jimmy Jam” for so many years gave me the inspiration to begin my own DJ company, recently renamed Mile High Music. I feel so blessed to be able to keep my love of music in my life. I truly love being a DJ.
I love to spend time with my two kids, Lauren and Aaron, and my wife, Janell (who I call my “right hand woman,” as she is often seen at my DJ table, taking requests and helping wherever necessary).
I have a strong passion for bicycling, climbing 14’ers, and just getting out in the open air whenever I get the chance. Life is good!
